The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. One carat is equal to 1/5th of a gram. A gram is also split into points. 100 points = 1 carat. For example:

0.10 Carat=3.0 mm
0.15 Carat=3.4 mm
0.20 Carat=3.8 mm
0.25 Carat=4.1 mm
0.40 Carat=4.8 mm
0.50 Carat=5.2 mm
0.65 Carat=5.9 mm
0.75 Carat=5.9 mm
1.00 Carat=6.5 mm 1.50 Carat=7.4 mm
2.00 Carat=8.2 mm

This is the actual shape of the diamond. An example of this is a Princess cut diamond.
Colour
Diamonds are graded using a scale that ranges from "D" to "Z". Colorless or near white diamonds are classified "D" to "K". At Vertigo Diamonds we only use "D" to "K" diamonds.
Clarity
Most diamonds have imperfections, which are graded on a scale from IF – I3. At Vertigo Diamonds we only use diamonds between IF – SI3.
At Vertigo Diamonds all ring sizes are available. We use only British Standard which applies alphabetic letters for each 1.25mm of ring circumference with half sizes in between.
There are a few ways to measure your ring size:
- Measure your finger with our ring belt sizer (find it in our FREE guide to buying diamonds). - Measure the inside width of your index ring finger, to find more about it download our FREE guide to buying diamonds). - Visit your local jewellery shop, and ask them to size your finger (or if a present an existing ring).
For more information of how to measure you finger or your existing ring please download our FREE guide to buying diamonds.
